Week #3 of no new comics is bringing more reschedules. Many publishers are moving their April titles to May, and some, like Humanoids and Yen Press, are delaying some new products until August and September. Marvel Comics is pausing some titles that were tied to movie releases like Black Widow and Taskmaster. DC Comics has reportedly told creators on Black Label and 5G/Generation Five comics to stop working for now.
When it comes to digital comics, publishers are split. Image Comics is wanting to unite with the other major comic publishes to release a limited number of new comics as free digital downloads. Dark Horse Comics and others have said they will release no new comics in a digital format until they can print and sell the physical comics at comic book shops.
Two encouraging bits of news involve alternate means of distribution. Diamond Distribution has announced they will ship to retailers if the comic shop owners provide a residential address for the deliveries. Also, in-print graphic novels and trade paperbacks are still being shipped to comic retailers, and book stores are still receiving new items from their own distributors.
So what to do in the meantime? Keep checking with your local retailers. Keep buying back issues and collections from them if you can. Keep pre-ording new comics from them.
Things From Another World is continuing their Find Something New sale. Other comic retailers are continuing to sell in-stock items online.
And, keep checking here for the latest updates on release dates. We are working everyday to get the best information regarding rescheduled comics, just as we have for 25 years.
Remember, when you order any of these titles NOW instead of waiting closer to the release date, whether here or at your local comic book shop, you save money AND you save the time of hunting down the issue after it sells out.
